October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to honor fighters, survivors, and the powerful legacies they build. Today, for our Wednesday Wellness feature, it is my absolute honor to introduce the world to the President and Majority Owner of His Masterpiece Women’s Wellness LLC—the matriarch of our family, my mother, Patsy Rose.
In 2016, just days after wrapping up a brilliant 32-year career at General Motors, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Instead of stepping into her hard-earned retirement, she was rushed into emergency surgery. Faced with an incredibly difficult crossroad, she made a profoundly courageous decision: she opted for a double mastectomy.
Her reasoning was simple, yet it remains one of the most empowering lessons she has ever taught me. She knew that her identity, her beauty, and her womanhood were never tied to her physical body. She wanted to be safe rather than sorry. She chose life.
This past June, we celebrated her 75th birthday. But this year, we are also celebrating a massive medical milestone: Patsy Rose is officially 10 years breast-cancer-free.
Her survivorship is just one chapter in a lifetime of extraordinary resilience. After a divorce in 1986, she raised three children as a single mother, working multiple jobs to ensure we never lacked the stability and abundance of a two-parent household. She is the very foundation of my servant-leadership principles.
Everything His Masterpiece Women’s Wellness stands for—holistic health, empowerment, protecting your peace, and building sustainable futures—comes directly from the blueprint she gave me.
Because of her sacrifices, our enterprise is proudly a three-generational family business, stretching from my mother’s foundational wisdom to my executive leadership, and beautifully branching out into my own daughter’s entrepreneurial journey.
This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, let my mother’s testimony serve as your personal call to action. Please, do not put off your preventative care.
